Hi. This is us (Jesse and Danie) in northern Rome. We spent the night there before heading out on a Mediterranean Cruise. Doesn't that sound obnoxious? Let me explain the situation.

Jesse called me about 5 minutes before the end of my shift and asked "Do you want to go on a Mediterranean cruise?" First of all, what kind of question is that? Secondly, how can we (I) afford to be taking a cruise?
Well it turns out Jesse won a cruise at work. They pulled his name out of a hat. Seriously. The cruise left from Civitavecchia on June 30, and I was responsible for getting myself to Rome, but Jesse paid my taxes on the cruise and all I really had do was actually be in Rome for the cruise. That was easier said than charged... but it was done. And now we are here - somewhere between Rome & Santorini, Greece - almost one month later. Here is the story of our grand adventure.

Jesse and I got a ride to the airport from Lizbeth. As you can see, she was happy to do it. The only problem being the fact that Lizbeth drives a VW Beetle.
We managed to make it work though, with Jesse & Danie in the back seat and the largest of the luggage riding in the front with Lizbeth.
Once we got to the airport, we ate. And you'll see that's a major theme for this leg of the trip. There are actually a few themes: eating, crying children, and delays. Breakfast for me was a half chicken sandwich from Wolfgang Puck. Jesse had a breakfast pizza. We then spent $7 on four 20 oz bottles of water and got ready to board.
And we were denied. Apparently bad weather out east caused EWR to push back flight departures all over the country. Fortunately, the delay ended up being less than the 2 hours predicted. We boarded about a half hour late and spent about that much time on the runway. But eventually, we got to Newark, New Jersey. That is *not a picture from Newark, New Jersey. That's the view from McCarran.
